Chicago Theatre information help

I am looking for some information regarding a collection of theatre memorabilia that my grandfather left to me.

I have hundreds of what I believe to be weekly movie programs (trifold 3 x 5 flyers) with approx. 6 movie names, pictures of stars and showtimes. All the theatres included were in Chicago and with the help of your website I have learned of their present status.

Some of the theatres are Avon, Calo, Garfield, Highland, Kedzie, Kedzie Annex, New Liberty, Louis, Jeffrey, Stratford, Oak, Rogers and many more.

I also have a field office copy specifications for architectural work on Selwyn and Harris Theatres which may not have been built since I cannot find info on these. Howard Crane is listed as architect.

I have so much and would like to hear from someone who might be able to inform me a bit. Thank you.

The neighboring Selwyn and Harris theaters were indeed built; they’re listed here under their later names of Cinestage and Michael Todd. Their façcades are still standing; the site has been home to the Goodman Theatre since 2000.

The Calo was home to Griffin Theatre. It is now a retail store.
