Is there any more info on this? Who ran it?

Where in the current complex were the original screens? The weird wacky ones off the side of the lobby?

An article in a 1995 issue of Boxoffice says that Cineplex Odeon opened their 7-plex in 1994.

The Loew’s 6-plex was an addition that came in 1997.

Looks like this was built by Eastern Federal Theatres. Unless there was a local chain in FL called Regency, I assume Regency was just the name of the theatre?

Thanks Joe. Great info. I wish I could make a giant “family tree” of the theatre biz. We are all so inbred, so to speak.

In my head — Cinematreasures = stories and anecdotes

Cinematour = photos.

Also — I have enough of a headache trying to keep Cinematour information up to date. If I spend too much energy getting photos to both sites I’ll go mad.

Are we sure that photo belongs to this theatre? That’s pictures of a Premiere Cinemas bank of poster frames and I don’t recall them ever operating a theatre in Arkansas.

Very similar to: http://www.pccmovies.com/images/theaters/orlandopremierecinema/11.jpg

Looks like this was perhaps started by Resort Theatres or Metropolitan? Looks identical to the theatres in Indio, Calexico, and the stalled project in La Quinta.

Sun & Surf is not Carmike. I was just there in April and was being operated by Fox.

Wallace did not own Hollywood Theatres in 1999. They were their own company that later Wallace purchased.

Cinemark may not have purchased it, but they are operating it for the time being.

Scott Neff commented about Plaza 3 Theatre on Jul 18, 2013 at 5:36 pm

An article in the March 1992 edition of Boxoffice states that NEI acquired this theatre from previous tenants Century Theatres Inc.

I know this was NOT Century/Syufy and don’t believe that the Century Cinema Corp was operating at this time.

This theatre’s completion was announced in the September 1991 edition of Boxoffice. RC Theatres was the operator.

Scott Neff commented about Americana 5 on Jul 18, 2013 at 2:29 pm

I don’t know about Mann/Pacific but in an August 1991 edition of Boxoffice, it was cited that CinemaCal Entperises operated the theatre at that time.

According to an article in the August 1991 edition of Boxoffice, construction of this theatre was started by Cineplex Odeon Theatres.

This was actually built by Premiere Cinema Corp which was the company Mike Campbell formed prior to forming Regal Cinemas. Premiere was sold to Cinemark in 1989.

Scott Neff commented about Capri Cinema III & IV on Jul 16, 2013 at 5:57 pm

An article in the April 1991 issue of Boxoffice states that Regal Cinemas acquired the Capri from United Artists. Is that this Capri or the other one?

Scott Neff commented about Carson Stadium Cinemas on Jul 16, 2013 at 3:31 pm

Was this originally the Movies 4? ACT III acquired a “Movies 4” in Carson City in 1990.

While Wallace operated it, it was the Movies 10, but I can imagine they added on.

Also, seeing that Scott Wallace (once CEO of ACT III) ended up running the theatre in his own company, it seems likely.

Scott Neff commented about Regal Bellis Fair 6 on Jul 15, 2013 at 12:35 pm

The ACT III, Regal and UA merger as described in the overview did not take place in 1998. Regal and ACT III merged at that time but UA did not join the action until 2002 when Regal Entertainment Group was formed.

Scott Neff commented about Regal Knoxville Center Stadium 10 on Jul 15, 2013 at 10:26 am

Thanks all. So did UA operate other theatres in Knoxville that became Regal Cinemas prior to the formation of Regal Entertainment Group? (ie. before 2002).

Scott Neff commented about New River Valley Movies 11 on Jul 11, 2013 at 6:36 pm

The new River Valley 11 closed and an entirely new River Valley Stadium 14 was built to replace it. The address for the 14-plex is 110 New River Rd.

Did Regal really get this as early as 1985? I thought Regal wasn’t even a thing until 1987.
