Former Odeon Cinema For Sale?
HARTLEPOOL, ENGLAND — Odeon closed this theater in 1981. Re-opened as a live entertainment club called Casears Palace in the late 90’s, the venue only lasted a couple of years before closing once again.
Yesterday, though, a “For Sale” sign has appeared, with Newcastle upon Tyne agents Lamb & Edge handling the property. The theater’s current owner is the Hartlepool-based company Capanac Leisure, who own a number of bars and nightclubs in town.
They also owned the former Fairworld Cinema just a few hundred yards away, which was Hartlepool’s last cinema, closing in May 1983, until the Warner Village opened a few years ago on the marina. The Fairworld was demolished in 1997 and a Morrisons supermarket now stands on the theater’s site.
Details of the Odeon property have yet to appear on the Lamb & Edge website.

Enean Theatre Restoration Pics
PITTSBURG, CA — Jaime F Penuela sent in an update on the Enean Theatre (including pics of the theater’s restoration):
“Here are some pictures of the ongoing restoration of the Enean Theatre. We are in the early stages, but there are plans to convert it in to a multimedia theater and restaurant, serving the finest cuts of meat and international cuisine, along with a full bar (inside the shell of an old boat!) and a coffee shop.

Cinema Treasures Hits 5000 Theaters!
Over the weekend, Cinema Treasures’s Theater Guide officially passed the 5000 theater mark!
With help from thousands of theater fans around the world, it has taken us just over three years to reach this amazing milestone. In fact, the day that we launched the site — with just 100 theaters — seems like eons ago.
Some interesting stats about the guide:
• 5086 theaters
• 189 theater chains
• 64 functions
• 29 styles
• 165 architects
• 64 architectural firms
• 768 theater links
• 1620 photos
• 7801 commentsOf course, there is so much more work ahead, as there are many, many more theaters to add and new features to bring online (photo system, message board, etc.), but we’re both tremendously excited at how large and comprehensive this website has become.
Special thanks to our illustrious theater editor Bryan Krefft and all of our current and former volunteers, as well as everyone who has ever made a contribution to Cinema Treasures!
Sincerely,
Patrick Crowley and Ross Melnick
