Another shirt lived Hastings Cinema was the Wellington Cinema, which was situated in an upper floor of the rather grand looking building on the corner of York Buildings and Albert Road, in one of Hastings Town Centres pedestrianised areas and can be found immediately opposite the town centre McDonalds Restaurant.
It opened in 1911 but closed during 1912, a year that saw some twenty two new cinemas open within the borough of Hastings & St Leonards and probably couldn’t compete -It was very much survival of the fittest as the borough had one Cinema seat for every three inhabitants.
For many years it WS used as offices for the Pru and the upper floors are now a foreign language school, while the ground floor is now a Kamsons Pharmacy, having been a toy shop and QS in recent decades.
